Swedish Lighting Designers Association (SLF)

On December 14, 1992, the Swedish Lighting Designers Association was formed at a constituent meeting at Filmhuset in Stockholm. Around sixty lighting designers from all over Sweden had responded to the invitation sent out by letter through Proscen. The invitation was the result of six months of work, which began after a large meeting of lighting designers in mid-May 1992. The purpose of the association that was formed is to: “… promote lighting design as an artistic part of theater and music productions and in other contexts where lighting design is required for an artistic result by:
- Promoting good lighting design
- Promoting lighting design as part of the collective artistic work process
- Serving as a forum for debate among lighting designers and with other professional groups
- Promoting regeneration within the profession
- Seeking to influence the creation of training opportunities within the profession
- Working for trade union recognition
- Working to establish contractual terms between employers and lighting designers
- Seeking contact with sister organizations in other countries.
