Swedish Theater Technology Association – STTF

  • STTF was founded in 1976 out of a need to offer continuing education for employees in the industry. The Swedish Theatre Technical Association (STTF) is a non-profit, independent association supported by its members, who are professionals working with stage technology, lighting, sound, costume, make-up/wig and related design fields, as well as scenography and stage architecture.

The purpose of STTF is to jointly create, operate, and develop a functioning industry network of individuals and workplaces that are active in our various fields for those working in performing arts, culture, film, or event production.

STTF works to promote qualified education and continuing education, create paths to problem solving, develop methods, present new technology, and promote research and safety work.

STTF is the Swedish section of the international organization OISTAT, a worldwide association of performing arts professionals such as scenographers, theater technicians, and architects. Thanks to this, STTF can facilitate international contacts among colleagues around the world. OISTAT usually holds meetings every two years, with the Prague Quadrennial taking place every four years and a congress with seminars in between.

    • STTF organizes member meetings, seminars, regional meetings, study trips, and trade fairs.
    • STTF publishes the member magazine ProScen – by and for our members.
    • STTF is the Swedish branch of OISTAT, an international network of theater technicians, set designers, and theater architects.
