The Dutch company Beyne was founded in 1896 in Amsterdam.
Serving both professional and amateur theatre companies—many with modest means—Mr. Beyne responded to their needs by renting out complete stage sets, including painted backdrops, flats, and furniture. Over the years, this practice led to the creation of an extensive and varied collection.

After remaining in the Beyne family for three generations, the company and its impressive stock of more than 250 hand-painted backdrops were acquired by ShowTex. Today, ShowTex continues to preserve this unique collection. As an international leader in stage and event textiles, ShowTex ensures that these historic backdrops remain available for rental, allowing them to continue inspiring new creative productions around the world.
