RITCS – EhB

The Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound (RITCS) is one of the internationally renowned Schools of Arts of the Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts (EhB). EhB is also actively engaged in research. Artistic research groups within the Schools of Arts carry out artistic and academic research, while several Centers of Expertise engage in practice based research projects, which are often multidisciplinary in character. The former Expertise Centre for Technical theatre of RITCS is now part of the Open Arts and Futures research centre of EhB.
The Expertise Centre for Technical Theatre leads the Canon II project. This research unit has since 2013 a strand on the history of technical theatre with a focus on educational use. Projects like “Wood and Canvas”, “Changement a Vue”, “The one to four scale theatre” and “Fading lights” and the leadership of the first Canon project reflect a continuous expertise in the field.
The Expertise Centre for Technical Theatre has a wide international network of experts and organisations in the performing arts fields as well as in the collection and museum field. This network is based on exchange of information and expertise, and collaboration in funded as well as non-funded projects.
