Enrico’s career began in 1987 at Mechalectron as an importer for Strand Lighting.

In 1992, he took over the exclusive import rights and set up his own company, Barndoor BV. Later, in 1996, he took over the Strand Lighting office in Brussels, thereby securing the exclusive rights to Strand Lighting in the Benelux. In 2006, Strand UK ran into serious difficulties and went under. Enrico then took over distribution for the whole of Europe, Russia and Africa on behalf of Strand USA, until they were able to do so themselves again. In 2007, he took over the Strand Germany office, thereby also securing exclusivity in Germany. A loyal Strand Lighting distributor, indeed. When QuartzColor left the Strand Lighting group, he retained the distribution of QuartzColor to this very day.

Barndoor’s product range continued to expand, enabling us to offer a comprehensive solution for all theatres and studios.

In 2010, Barndoor merged with Controllux (the former ADB dealer); this company has since grown to become the leading player in the Benelux.

Enrico’s knowledge of Strand Lighting and QuartzColor in particular dates back to the 1970s. Over the years, he has collected several hundred spotlights and still possesses a great deal of documentation.
