Lighting equipment
Documenting the equipment that makes it happen
The Canon project
continues to document lighting sources, dimmers, control boards, parts, and accessories (a process started as part of the original Canon project). We support this with manuals, technical documentation, maintenance manuals, data sheets, magazine articles, publicity material and so on, as well as developing instruction videos and additional information.
Canon experiments with:
- harvesting digital information techniques
- AI-driven annotation (with human verification) of large-scale sources such as magazines, including publicity materials.
- AI text creation based on data
- 3D scanning of objects (inside and out).
Canon:
- documents four collections of diverse types to serve as case studies, making them available in a sustainable, open digital format.
- builds expertise about different approaches and documentation strategies, including selection criteria, safeguarding measures and ways of documenting physical objects and their use.
- develops an ontology leading to an improved, accepted data structure.
- creates guidelines on how to document lighting equipment.
